Transmission and TX10 Jack

Updated 3/27/2011

How I modified a Trans Jack to make removing a Transmission and/or Transmission transfercase combo from a Nissan truck and pathfinder. Nissan uses the same mounting pattern on all the Nissans I have pulled trannies from since 1969 - 2004 models. Anything RWD or FWD uses the same 12mm bolt pattern.

  1. Buy a Transmission jack. Harbor freight
  2. Cut a section of 2x4 .120 steel tube to length.
  3. Drill 2 holes. Uses the tranny mount for a jig. Almost all nissan RWD or 4wd use the same style trans/tcase mount.
  4. discard strap. The strap is very hard to use and gets in the way. Basically useless.
  5. Weld 2x4 steel  to jack.

When Using jack bolt jack to Trans with factory bolts. Much safer and easier than the strap. I lowered trans/tcase with one hand. I welded the wing nut angle thing solid after this removal. It made the trans lean.

Balanced perfectly. This is a 96 R50 5spd and tx10. Just cleared My sliders.

Also works on KA24DE with TX10

Version 2.0

I had to make sme changes to handle the weight of the auto/tx10 combos. The jack was bending at the wheel mounts. I also removed those tabs for the strap. They just get in the way. I switched the front bolts from wing nuts to real 10mm bolts with locking nuts. Now the trans stays solid.

I used a bottle jack to change from level to tilt. Then just slid trans on. This jack makes install/uninstall a one man job.

TX10 adapter

If you need to remove/install a 135lb TX10 by yourself. Add a piece of steel to the above jack. Uses the bolts that hold the stock skidplate. Very easy to install / remove by myself this way.
