  • Team Associated RC10 full bearing 6 gear trans

  • Traxxas driveshafts 4951 and 2ea 4928

Hopefully will look similar to this one.

This is the donor old 1985 RC10s. (Pro line truck conversion kits)

The TLT kit I will start with for the axles, shocks and links.

The new clear lexan body.

The trans.

Construction begins: (note new rims with old tires for mockup)

I assembled the tlt axles and started mocking up the frame and trans.

I built some frame rails from 1/2" flat stock 1/8 thick.

Using TLT frame to mockup the new frame and new ilnks. Made new links from 4-40 threaded rod will cover with 3/16 brake line.

The links are stock tlt uppers, 3" 4-40 lowers. Both covered with 3/16 brake line.

I made some drive shafts from 2" split pins. AE one side Tamiya on the other. The tamiya is a hammer in fit, the AE will need to be bonded or welded. Had to modify the rc10 trans for clearance

I welded in some cross members fro trans and steering servo.

These are new rustler FRONT rims. They fit without clearnce issues. But the Tamiya nuts do not work.

Need to narrow the rustler rims to fit. It was much easier than I thought.

I made some sliders and bumpers.

I built some rear shock towers from fiberglass. Tested them out then made steel versions of all shock towers.

I made some drive shafts using traxas stuff. OK the drive shafts were allot of work.

Here is what I did:

Drilled 3/8 hole in all 4 ends of traxas yokes.
Used Traxas hardware to attach.

AE Side SAE
Drilled ONE 5/32 hole in AE trans steel yoke. The traxas pin is the SAME size as the slot.
Need to drill hole in center on slot.

TLT side METRIC
Drilled ONE 5/32 hole in steel yoke.
Drilled ONE 1/8 hole in steel yoke.
Clearance the TLT end. The traxas rubs on the tlt steel. I had to clearance the plastic since I cannot get apart.
The TLT end is a press fit over tlt yoke. Very tight. I used a press to assemble.
Shorten drive shafts to length.

They work AWESOME. Do not really need the slip shaft but its there if I increase flex.

No binding at full travel up or down. Do not really need the slip shaft in my setup. But it looks nice. Next pic is driveshaft angles at ride height.

Completed rolling chassis with steering. Flex, ride height and bottom shots.

I added 3 plastic trays to hold the electronics. Also added the body posts.

Body is on and new geolanders installed.

I received my rc4wd GRU. I had to add a spacer to clearance the Spur gear.

I installed installed a larger pinion since I did not want it to low. I will have to clearance the rc10 trans mount to run a small pinion again.

Here is the electronics layed out and installed.

I welded on a mount for the TLT antenna mount. Its mounted on the bumper.

Drives awesome.

I added a driver. Its a "fisher price loving family Dad".
