Brake controller in the Nissan Armada/Titan TA60 (2004-201x)

Updated 1/2/2014

This is how I installed a brake controller in my 05 Armada, Titan should be the same.

Tools needed. 8 sockets and screwdriver. No special tools needed. Solder and shrinkwrap for connections to OEM pigtail.

These are the items I removed.

  1. Solder brake controller to Nissan provided pigtaill
  2. remove Left lower dash panel. 2 phillips screws. Disconnect all wire connectors as needed.
  3. remove 4 bolts with 8mm socket from steel panel under steering column.
  4. cut hole in steel panel for controller. I used a cut off wheel.
  5. fabricated a custom bracket using oem and some steel.
  6. drilled a hole in steel panel for mounting.
  7. Bolt controller to dash panel. I used some old Nissan 8mm bolt and nut I had. I have lots of old Nissan hardware I save for stuff like this.
  8. install dash panel with 4 bolts.
  9. install plastic panel. Mark for hole.
  10. remove panel, cut hole.
  11. install panel.

There is tons of room in this location. There is nothing behind the panel.

Here is the finished flush mounted controller.
