Motor Mount and Trans mount replacement on a Nissan Quest - V42 (2004-2010)

My tires were wearing out and getting bad vibrations between 50-60mph. I tried changing tires, wheels, rotors, struts pads etc. Still had a vibration at 50-60 mph.  65+-85 no problems. I drive cross country on 1500 miles trips once a year.

Tools needed. Normal sockets and wrenchs, rags and clip pullers.

  1. open hood
  2. Remove air box inlet 4 cips
  3. Remove battery - 2 10mm  nuts
  4. remove battery tray 4- 5 bolts
  5. disconect upper hose put a rag in each end of top hose so no coolant is lost.
  6. remove fan assembly - 2 screws
  7. unplug connector on mount - It looks like a "sensor" but its actually a motor to adjust mount.
  8. remove the 3 bolts holding mount to engine bracket
  9. reinstall is opposite of above.

The problem with my bad tire wear and vibrations is this mount was ripped.

Removing the radiator shroud, battery tray and fans gave me plenty of room to replace mount. I did this twice so total time was 1hr.

This is the electronic controlled engine mount. Basically there is a motor in the mount. If it is unplugged I do not get any OBDII codes. The FSM just states this "The ECM controls the engine mount operation corresponding to the engine speed and the vehicle speed. The control system has 2-step control [Soft/Hard]"

Here is the new and old. The new one came with a new motor. Most places call it a sensor but its not a sensor but a motor to adjust the mount.

Finally no more wheel vibrations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Major clunk when accelerating. Bad trans mount.

Remove mount, raise trans a few inchs and install new one. Very easy. Make sure you remove all the bolts on spacer.

I have some pictures I need to find.
