Actuator
replacement on Nissan Quest V42
(2004-2009)
updated 1/2019
This
is how I changed actuators on My 04 Quest .
The actuators are the same part numbers for 04+ . The
original actuators can fail in a few ways. The gear strippred a tooth.
The actuators are all
time and date stamped. They have been redesigned so its a great fix. I
only replaced 1 after 11 years of ownership. Bought new in
04. I replaced more on the 2005 Armada.
Tools
needed. 5.5,7,8 and 10mm sockets and ratchet. Phillips
number 2 and 3.
Plastic pry tools. Picks.
The actuator that fails most often is
27743-7H00a
Remove 3 screws, disconnect wire connector and
replace actuator.
The mix door requires the dash panel to be removed. Its allot of work
but actaully very easy once you tear into it. These pictures are in the
order I took it apart.
Disconnect the battery first. 2 reasons why. 1. is the ARS light will
detect an open and trigger light. 2. Air bag needs to get
unplugged.
First disconnect battery. remove and shifter
knob, center console glove box. Remove drivers lower dash panel
Remove center console.
I replaced cabin filters while I had it apart.
Remove left cover in front side view mirrow.
Remove column trim and intrument cluster. I removed blower to look
around inside. It does not need to come out. But it helps in cabin
filter replacement.
Remove front trim on dash to access screws. Remove top
speakers.
Disonnect RHD airbag 2 connectors and 2 nuts only.
Remove dash Panel, airbag is bonded to panel.
Remove ducts to expose actuator.
Now remove steering column bolts.
This is the only actuator that hits the FRAME. It is not possible to
remove the actuator, with frame installed. I pulled it out 5 inchs.
Now install new improved actuator on frame and reinstall.
Hope
this helps. email if you have questions i can go into more detail if
needed. Email is on the Menu.
