Nissan FSR5R05A TCM replacement 2005-2006 maybe newer

Updated 7/2010

This trans FSR5R05A is used in the Titan, Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra. Some cars also. The TCM (Trans computer) is located IN the valve body on SOME years. You can only buy a valve body assembly to replace it. The truck was running great then suddenly the Gear indicators on the dash disappeared and the trans stopped shifting. I think the Check engine comes on. But in this case it was already on because of o2 sensor issues. The truck stopped shifting gears. The "auto cont" fuse blew. The OBDII code was U1000. When then engine was turned off it does not crank. As if it is in gear.  A new fuse just pops instantly. After some troubleshooting we noticed if the TCM is unplugged the fuse no longer pops instantly. Picked up a used trans for $400. The valve body is $800-900.

To replace the valve body is almost as easy as changing the filter. Just remove about 12 bolts and disconnect 2 wire connecters and it comes right out.

06 xterra trans was picked up for the parts needed.

The trick is removing just the right bolts. There is about 12 to remove the valve body.
